I purchased a low-cost laptop running Windows 10 to control DMX lighting. Everything works as long as nothing else is active—even background updates and scans. The OS has numerous auto-features that keep changing during use, making it hard to perform tasks without interference. Can I turn off certain services or adjust settings to reduce the processor workload? I’m not able to enter safe mode because my controller software still needs access.

The lighting control software refers to a specific program for managing illumination systems. The laptop model in question is not explicitly mentioned, but it’s likely a standard desktop or notebook used for such tasks. A more intuitive Linux alternative could indeed be a viable option for your needs.

Great choice! You use Obsidian Onyx, ETC Eos, and Google Drive for syncing. I’d be happy to explore a USB solution if it helps you.
