Hello from Portugal! I set up Windows on my build with a USB stick. At first, nothing showed up, but after two days it finally appeared. I’m not keen on spending 200€ for a Windows 10 Pro license. I just want to get rid of it! What options do I have?

Although this isn't 100% legal, you can buy a Windows key off eBay for like U$15 or so. But those keys aren't guaranteed to work, so my recommendation is to buy it from Microsoft for the full cost.

get a genuine license is the right choice. it’s their usual method to push you to remove the watermark.

As discussed earlier, there are inexpensive and even free options to remove the watermark, but they breach the EULA and are treated as pirate activities. I cannot suggest software piracy, so the best choice is to purchase a key from MS.

You added something without paying for it, and now you're upset because it remembers you didn’t pay. You don’t want to pay the full price for it, do you? This site doesn’t promote piracy, which Microsoft views as illegal. If you’re looking for affordable Windows options, there were many ways to get it for free—like redeeming a Win7 or Win8 key after the free upgrade. We’re suggesting you explore legal alternatives instead.

If you need to switch from Windows 10 Pro to Home edition, make sure you follow the official process. Since you built the PC and forgot about the key, you can usually download the Home edition version from Microsoft's website. Just ensure you're using the correct edition and verify compatibility with your hardware. Let me know if you need help with the download steps!

You may need to switch to Windows 10 Home if you have Pro installed without a valid key, as the system won't accept a home version. Reinstalling from Home might be the best solution instead of trying to downgrade within Windows.
