A few months back my Windows switched its colour scheme and theme unexpectedly. I’m trying to figure out how to revert it. The taskbar and start menu now resemble Windows 98, with a dull light grey that looks unpleasant. In the colour settings, only a limited palette is available, mainly affecting small elements instead of the full theme. I’ve checked all the options in the window above, but I’m not sure what to do. After a recent reinstall, I’m attempting to clear things up, though it’s been a hassle. Anyone have suggestions?

No, I haven't tried to disable transparency effects.

The difference isn't significant, I've restored the taskbar dark, though its appearance remains altered compared to before.

It seems they likely revised it to version 20H2, altering its appearance significantly. You can choose light, dark, or custom modes, which essentially allows Windows components to be in dark/light and applications to stay in the other.

Have you considered just flipping the theme? I'm pretty sure you'd like to switch it to "Dark".
