It functioned well until the drop of the FX 4100 and bending of pins. I straightened them with my nails, and the FX 4130 also worked fine. However, when trying to reinstall the FX 4100, there was no post detected. The PCI debug card seemed to malfunction on this board, so I re-seated it and still got no signal. I tried the FX 4130 too, but it remained silent. It might be that some debris entered the pins, requiring extra force to straighten them. The socket was cleaned with 99% IPA, but I suspect dirt remains. Removing the cover is necessary to clear any residue. How do you plan to take off an AM3 socket cover? I only managed it on a broken MSI 970A—it broke apart completely. I’d rather not replace the cover or buy a new board.

From what I understand, it shouldn't be taken out, and trying to do so is just okay.

They can be taken off carefully, though the device isn’t built for easy removal. The text emphasizes that the quoted advice also applies here. I replaced the cover on a faulty board by removing an old one and fitting it in place. Once the chip was placed, I pressed down to engage it, which allowed the latch to move and secure the chip into the socket. After installing the cooler, it functions properly. If you're lucky, the cover might come off without effort, but usually it gets warped when removed due to the plastic material.
