My magician won’t upgrade automatically; you’ll need to uninstall it, download the newest version, and install it. 1: Are there any other steps I should know about? Also, how crucial is this program for my SSD 840 EVO? Would missing it cause any issues? Thanks for your help.

It's not necessary, though you can enable Over Provisioning to extend the SSD's lifespan.

Turn off the fast mode so you can apply changes. Launch the Magician, navigate to Advanced Features, select RAPID MODE, click Disable, restart your computer, then return to Magician Info at the bottom and click Update.

Avoid selecting 4.5 since it prevents RAPID mode activation. Updated in 4.6

Thanks for your responses, Tycho. After reviewing, I confirmed rapid mode wasn’t activated, which ruled it out. The first attempt to update failed due to a missing installation file. When downloading the update, it was extremely slow—around 100kbps—before it finally worked smoothly.
