I updated Windows recently and noticed the game files from Microsoft Store/Xbox app remain installed. They aren’t recognized by apps or the Microsoft Store, so deletion isn’t possible. Changing ownership didn’t work either. There’s no way to remove them without reformatting the drive.

The simple method involves removing the directories from a Linux live setup, such as a USB drive containing the Ubuntu installation files.

Is this about a single disk? If you reinstalled Windows correctly, the drive would have been erased.

It seems you're indicating that you relied on Windows' built-in recovery tools without ensuring a complete data erasure.

You haven't removed any existing partitions before proceeding with the installation. That might be why it happened.

Is there a method to remove the WindowsApps folder without using formatting? You mentioned it’s already present, but you’re unsure how to delete it.

Using Linux Live only restricts changes to the specific persistent storage, not all drives. You can still adjust multiple partitions without needing a dual-boot setup.

In many distributions, you can change existing drives or data during startup from a live USB. Still, some users report issues deleting that specific folder even in Linux environments.
