It seems challenging to free unused handles on Windows without restarting the system. Your PC may need a reboot after a few days of heavy use to become responsive again.

Launch Task Manager, navigate to Details, click on the top bar, select "Select columns," and enable the "Handles" column. Begin removing items with many handles. Restarting applications such as browsers or chat apps can assist, but the simplest approach is to restart more frequently. Spending time identifying apps with numerous handles will be longer than rebooting them.

Certainly, it's helpful to understand which application works well with them, allowing you to resolve the issue by updating or removing it.
