Hello, I understand your situation. You can perform a fresh installation of Windows 10 by wiping your current disk. Before doing so, you may need to activate Windows 10 using the key from your previous Windows 7 installation. There should be a generated activation key for Windows 10 that you can use during the setup process. Alternatively, you could reinstall Windows 7 and then upgrade to Windows 10. Let me know if you need further clarification!

When you log in with your Microsoft account, it will use that information to start the installation. It likely verifies your hardware ID on the servers first, but if that fails, it will prompt you to enter your Windows 7 key.

It maintains updates and records, functioning similarly to a complete reset plus a new setup.
