You're facing some challenges with TeamViewer and remote access, especially given the slow internet in your father-in-law's area. It's understandable that you're concerned about data usage and costs. Based on typical usage, you might see around 20GB per month for a service priced at $120, which could be quite high depending on the plan. Guesstimates are reasonable here since detailed info isn't available. If you're looking for alternatives, consider tools that support lower bandwidth or offer more affordable plans tailored to rural connections.

Not quick enough. Previously, when I used to run TeamViewer from my desktop while working across town, I was only getting 50 MB/s, but the office connection was slow at around 10 Mb/s, causing frequent interruptions.

For TeamViewer, I don't think much. It's not very high; probably around 10 Mbps.

In most cases, you'll likely require more across all regions.

Consider using a USB Wi-Fi dongle to create a hotspot on 4G or another network, then connect your device to it for improved connectivity.

The question is unclear. Could you provide more details about what you're referring to?
