I just got an old XFX nForce 780i SLI board in decent shape. The main problem was a bent pin in the CPU socket, which I could straighten easily. Initially, the C2D E8500 worked but kept triggering code FF. After swapping the PSU to a reliable one, the same issue persisted. I switched to another E8500 chip and made some progress. The codes progressed from FF to C1, then C3, ending at 25, where I got stuck. I don’t have much documentation for this board, though EVGA’s version looks identical. From their specs, it should be a Shadow system/video BIOS with post code 25. Most discussions mention RMA issues or a faulty northbridge chip. I’m hoping someone can help me resolve this and get the board running smoothly with my QX9650 socketed in.
