Hey there, I hope you're doing well. I'm planning to buy GTA5 for a friend and I'm considering getting it from the SEA Region because it's more affordable. I know the new Steam policy about using VPNs to access region-locked games, but I understand it's okay since my friend will be in the SEA Region to claim it. I'm just curious—will it still work if I play it in countries outside that region? I'm double-checking everything. Thanks in advance!

Steam determines the game's region based on your selection and verifies your IP address location. If it matches, it initiates the launch.

Earlier versions relied solely on VPN during purchase or setup. Now the system actively verifies your region using IP and ISP details. You can enjoy the game, but you'll have to keep the VPN running continuously. If Valve notices your activity, they might freeze your account or simply remove the game without offering a refund.
