You have the option, but only if you purchased it through a CRD. If you bought it with Steam funds, you can only get a refund within Steam.

You're referring to the Steam Refund feature as a great option. With fewer demos available, it's now the best way to get your money back. I have a Vive and there are many games on it, so I just picked something that caught my interest and refunded it if it didn't meet my expectations or the game wasn't right for me.

If you send the refund back to the Steam wallet, it will match your refund immediately. Choosing to return it to your card may take a few days, and you have the option to specify the refund location. Using the funds again on Steam means they should process it instantly as Steam currency.
