Refreshing the official Windows 10 USB installation media
Maybe I didn’t explain clearly. I need to use the official USB drive that came with my retail copy of Windows 10. It functions properly. I’ve used it recently to install Windows 10 on another device. However, since it was quite old, it took around four days for it to keep up with the latest version.
These USB drives are read-only, which means you can’t modify the image on them. Simply switch to another USB drive and use it for the installation.
I usually recommend acquiring a USB 3.0 32 GB flash drive and installing ventoy on it. Then simply drag and drop the ISO files onto it for any bootable setup you need. This method works with older systems and UEFI with secure boot (just add the required key). They provide excellent guidance on their platform, and it’s completely free—great for saving time.
