It's a bit improved, similar to when iOS turned completely flat. Your taskbar still displays the old icon while Steam runs, but everything else uses the new one. Anyone else experiencing this?

Anything outside the original Steam skin is the worst thing that could happen.
It's not inherently problematic, but it doesn't quite match the overall look. The sudden shift to a blue tone at the top feels out of place compared to the rest, making it hard to integrate visually. Either update everything or keep it as-is. Regarding the logo, the main issue is its similarity to other icons in your system tray, though it's otherwise acceptable.
