Reflections on the Org race league situation
We're exploring a way to organize racing activities with the upcoming new mode. Instead of strict races, we could set up a league-style system—similar to tabletop wargames or casual racing leagues. After each race, participants submit their times; top performers in each race get priority, and rankings can help break ties when needed. Races would be divided into categories (e.g., M50 vs M50), making it easy to manage. I’m planning a simple spreadsheet to track pilots, results, and standings publicly. Sign-ups would happen via the sheet, with race details like name, time, and finish placed there. Attendance and reports are the racer’s responsibility. Each week, a set number of races would be required to qualify for a win in their class. Scoring could be adjusted as we go, and a weekly leaderboard will highlight winners. The sheet will stay open for feedback. I’m excited to finalize this setup so we can start racing and tracking right after the mode launches.
I was feeling unmotivated at work, so I created a spreadsheet that gathers input based on ship rank and shows the top 10 results on the main page. The red areas need special protection so only you can make changes, while others can add data elsewhere. The basic concept is like a racer finishing a race, entering their time in the first available slot, or overwriting it if needed—showing their finish position and name. You can also attach a screenshot if desired. This setup will automatically rank entries against each other, even across different days, and it’s currently set up for 100 entries but can be expanded later.
Currently, each vessel moves at a unique pace, so I'm selecting the one with the highest speed from each ship. Time*wintolossratio=player rank in that ship?
I appreciate the suggestion to include the win/loss percentage. The count of races played might also affect the outcome. This means a strong start won’t stop you from continuing.
I still support it fully. The only thing that comes to mind is uncertainty about whether seconds will be precise enough. If the races are close and time gaps shrink, we might need to add fractions of a second. Otherwise, the concept looks promising and I’m excited to see how it turns out.
