Reflections on Horizon Zero Dawn highlight its immersive world and intriguing narrative. 🌍✨
I recently completed Horizon Zero Dawn on PC (using a PS4 controller) and wanted to share my thoughts. It was generally enjoyable, though the story had some flaws. The combat felt engaging and original.
I only noticed the past elements and Elisabet Sokol along with GAIA, while thinking the current story lacked uniqueness. I wasn’t impressed by how fresh it felt, and I was eager to find out what comes next.
Essentially, the central narrative focuses on several compelling tales within the game that stand alone as powerful stories.
I believe the characters featuring Teeb and Bost early on really shape the atmosphere of your decisions. The Hunting Lodge also works well. You encounter many individuals along the route that provide brief narratives as you assist them in locating X Y Z, discover free bandit camps, or rescue prisoners. Most side quests aim to show you the emotions and actions of people as the main story unfolds with Aloy, helping you uncover her purpose and existence within the game.
I experienced no stability or performance problems at all. I completed the game from beginning to end, with only a brief crash during exit (post-save) that was the main issue. Please note my setup is quite advanced—equipped with an 8700K and 2080 Ti. Your results might differ depending on your hardware. I played at 1440p using full settings and achieved around 100fps.
Played it on the PS4. Thought it was entertaining, especially the robot battles, but the human characters were underwhelming. The story set in the present day was mostly... it seemed like there wasn't enough time or focus. A few characters looked interesting, but they didn't really act much and you rarely spent time with them. The side missions were a bit of a letdown—completing them all gave you extra characters for the final fight, but only about 15 to 30 minutes of interaction. It's possible some players form strong connections with certain characters. The world seemed more developed than it appeared, but the past elements were solid. Overall, I'm curious about the upcoming sequel, hoping it expands the present day setting and offers a more complete experience.
