You can still get high FPS by running at 1080p even when your GPU is idle. Lowering the resolution often helps maintain better performance without sacrificing too much visual quality.

Typically, at high resolution the GPU gets more strain while the CPU plays a smaller role. Unless reducing the resolution eases the workload, that's not usually the case.
