Reduced Pace Faster Movement
Reduced Pace Faster Movement
Hello. I have a few concerns I'd like clarified. My 2018 Mac Book Pro connects via Wi-Fi with speeds around 110MB download and 7Up, while my custom gaming PC built with M1 chips shows much lower performance—about 50MB during speed tests and only ~10MB when downloading Steam games. I’m wondering why this discrepancy exists and what steps might help improve the results. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
The Wi-Fi card might not perform well or the connection could be weak. Consider using a higher-quality card and replacing it.
It's important to remember that by default, downloads are listed in Megabytes (MB), which can seem slow. When converted to Megabits (Mb), internet speed is typically displayed more accurately—around 80Mbps, which is quite good (1MB equals 8Mb). You might notice a lower speed on Speedtest, possibly due to server selection or other variables.
It might work at 2.4 ghz and fail at 5 ghz. The laptop likely has three antennas, enabling a 3x3 setup for better speed, whereas the PC's wireless card probably uses just one or two antennas, limiting it to a 2x2 configuration with reduced maximum throughput.
