Reduced GPU consumption
Reduced GPU consumption
For a while now I've been using the ASUS GeForce RTX 3060 Ti ROG Strix OC V2. It performs well and looks great, but sometimes I see reports showing it uses only 4-5% power during games or benchmarks. I'm running two power cables from an 8-pin PSU, so it's not a pigtail issue. Can anyone clarify why this low consumption is being reported?
When the card operates correctly, I attribute any issues to software inaccuracies in measuring data. Power usage isn't a target—it's just something we need to tolerate for performance. You should aim for maximum efficiency. ~Note: Rather than focusing on power, I'd check how much the GPU is using. If it stays under 90%, CPU speed might be the bottleneck. What processor are you using with the 3060 Ti?
Thanks for the update. I ran a new printout with the overlay showing top-left usage, and it looks like GPU handles most work while CPU stays at 11%. My system runs at 10600k with 4.5 GHz, so CPU isn’t limiting performance. I’m curious if this setup might affect game frame rates.
