Hello everyone, I recently purchased a 5070ti after buying one openbox at microcenter. I observed it drawing less power than the YouTube benchmarks even when settings and GPU usage were similar. I also experienced a comparable problem with the 9070xt about a month ago (140W on Marvel Rivals while benchmarks reached the 200s). On the Rivals, the 5070ti should consume around 120W with roughly 55-70% GPU load, while GTA Enhanced would hit 170-180W at 98% utilization. Could this be related to a PSU or motherboard issue (hopefully not)?

Specs: MSI SHADOW GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, Ryzen 5 7600x, ASUS B650M-A Prime AX II, G.Skill 16GB DDR5 6000 RAM, XPG CORE Reactor II, 750W PSU, black, 80 Plus Gold.

I haven't checked for VSync or run any benchmarks. Could you share the results from tools like 3DMark? That way I can compare your performance accurately.

I performed a power analysis and the readings looked typical, at 303.9W. That’s why I’m puzzled about the reduced draw during gameplay and the absence of VSync.

This suggests possible CPU constraints. Would using Intel PresentMon alongside the game help? Also, is your RAM operating in dual-channel mode?

You only have a single 16GB RAM stick after the microcenter purchase. That might impact performance. When using Intel PresentMon, keep an eye on stability and resource usage.

Yes, it does. You're losing significant performance relative to having two sticks of RAM, which would enable dual-channel operation. Dual-channel increases memory bandwidth and can boost performance by about 30%. This mainly impacts CPU speed, as insufficient CPU power restricts GPU performance. You should aim for the GPU to operate near full capacity continuously. If it doesn’t, another component is likely the bottleneck, slowing down the GPU.
