Hello! I've noticed many negative reviews about the performance of GTA V, particularly online. In my situation, things are a bit different. GTA V only uses around 20% of my CPU (2-3 GB RAM) and 1-2% of my graphics card. It runs on an SSD, and my machine should easily handle it. I have a Lenovo Y740 with an I7-9750H, 16 GB DDR3 (dual channel) RAM, and an RTX 2070, along with an SSD. Temperatures are normal, and throttling doesn't occur. The settings don’t really affect performance, and my CPU stays under 4 GHz even when playing GTA, unlike when I'm in Windows or another game. Anyone have any advice? Thank you!

Playing on 1920x1080 with high quality settings still shows stable performance, around 55 fps in a 25-player lobby downtown. This happens despite low resource usage—just 20% CPU, 2 GB RAM, and only 2% GPU load.

You can use MSI AfterBurner to track GPU utilization.

I used the cam from NZXT, but I can't get MSI Afterburner to function. The monitor isn't appearing on the screen.

in story mode I’m seeing 100-110 fps with the same configuration as online, but in lobbies with 25 players I only get 55-60 fps. The issue remains consistent across CPU, GPU, and RAM usage.

It looks like the NZXT cam isn’t working properly. If you’re seeing over 100 frames per second, your graphics card is handling those images efficiently. That means your GPU isn’t wasting 2% of its capacity, your CPU isn’t consuming 20%, and RAM isn’t limited to just 2GB. In fact, all components are utilizing significantly more power. Playing at 55-60 fps in an online lobby is completely typical. When you mention issues with MSI Afterburner, clarify what specific behavior you’re experiencing.

I haven't noticed that before. GTA V seems to run poorly due to optimization issues. Try closing apps when you start the game and consider increasing your clock speeds if you can.
