Hello there, welcome. I'm dealing with system freezes during heavy computing tasks. I can accurately replicate the issue when using Topaz Video AI on a video file. During these freezes, my CPU stays cool at around 70% load. This problem has persisted for a couple of years since it started about two years ago on a fresh build. I resolved it by following a Reddit recommendation—lowering my GPU's clock in Afterburner to -200 MHz and tweaking BIOS settings such as PL1 and PL2 to 125W, plus turning off Multi-Core Enhancement. For several years, I maintained this configuration without any freezes. Recently, I decided to upgrade by replacing my power supply from 700W to 1000W. Unfortunately, the freezes returned, and even after adjusting BIOS and underclocking the GPU and CPU, the issue persists. I’m confused because the system should have sufficient power, and temperatures never exceed 80°C during freezing events. It doesn’t freeze during gaming, but it does when I’m working. My hardware specs are: Windows 10 Home 64-bit, Gigabyte Z490 Gaming X Rev 1 (BIOS F22), Intel i9 10900k (clock 3.7GHz, shows 4.9 despite enhancements off). I own a Kingston FURY Beast 64GB SSD (2x32GB, 3200MHz DDR4) and a GeForce RTX 3080 Ti with XPG GAMMIX S11 pro SSD (1TB), plus Corsair RM1000x 80 PLUS Gold (1000W).
I discovered the issue with Intel Turbo Boost, turning it off stabilized the system but reduced its performance slightly.
