i5 4460 ASRock H97M Anniversary MSI R9 380 4G GAMING Samsung 1TB HDD Seasonic S12II 520W 80+ Bronze 1x 8GB 1600MHZ Kingston HyperX I have all settings at a high level (no ultra adjustments) except post FX (high), grass quality (normal), reflection quality (high), and MSAA off. Vsync is on, FXAA is enabled, MSAA is disabled, 1080p full screen, and dx 11. When launching games, everything runs smoothly for about 5-10 minutes, but stuttering begins after a short while—especially when playing fast or in the northern northwest area near the city. It continues to lag even in urban settings. During stutter events, GPU usage can drop significantly. I suspect CPU or GPU throttling, though CPU and GPU temperatures are within normal ranges. CPU max temperature reached 53°C and GPU peaked at 56°C (monitored via MSI AB, HWMonitor, GPU Z, GPU Geek). Some users mentioned a CPU bottleneck, but my system never hits 100% usage. EDIT: in the advanced graphics settings, everything is turned off.

The section of the map tends to strain systems heavily, leading to reduced frame rates. How much RAM are you using during gameplay when lag appears? It seems likely your 2GB 380 is reaching its limits. Stuttering often points to memory pressure. Are you seeing high CPU activity as well? You mentioned a 980Ti or Fury X can run smoothly, so it’s probably not the processor. Are there many background apps or processes running at once?

I've also noticed that the map section can be quite demanding, with frame rates decreasing steadily from 60 to 15-20 frames per second, leading to noticeable stuttering. I'm using an R9 380 4GB model, and my VRAM usage is around 2.8-3GB of CPU utilization, which rarely hits 100%. It sometimes spikes, but usually stays between 40-90% utilization. The only applications running during games are MSI Afterburner and uTorrent.

Everything appears to be functioning properly. It seems the recent changes might be linked to the performance concerns some users are reporting. I’ll test GTA V later today on my system (i5-4570 + R9 290) to check for any issues.

The game has been inconsistent since the latest update, Rockstar is aware of it, but we'll see what they do. It's manageable for me, though not ideal. (3770k , Xfire 290)

It feels like a hassle because you can't fully enjoy the experience when you realize you'll start stumbling right away—especially during relaxed drives where it turns into a slow, repetitive sequence.

I’m also experiencing stuttering, particularly during the shift from night to day... it turns into a choppy, fragmented flow. This seems new compared to previous versions of the game.

My frame times were perfectly normal before the Part 2 update. I was consistently hitting 5-20ms frame times. Now it frequently jumps to 200ms or higher, causing noticeable micro-stuttering. Many players have reported this issue. According to Reddit, the problem seems linked to Rockstar attempting to block hackers. They appear to be "aware" of the issue. I don’t know if they’ll address it before the next DLC. GTA V has always been a flawed experience for me—it was the worst game I’ve ever played. I believe it’s partly because I love it so much and have invested so many hours into it, which makes the frustration intense.

Played for about an hour and a half last night. Spent time driving in all conditions—day, night, rain, sun—tracking targets in multiplayer, dodging police, etc. Generally ran smoothly at around 60 frames per second, with only brief stutters when speeding through the city. Those moments lasted only a short time and didn’t disrupt the experience much. I haven’t seen that kind of issue before, so it’s possible others are facing similar problems after the latest update. It didn’t bother me too much since it happened rarely, but I suspect some players are more affected than others. Fingers crossed Rockstar addresses it soon.
