Reduce CPU speed during gameplay in Rainbow Six Siege
Reduce CPU speed during gameplay in Rainbow Six Siege
I began using my R6s and observed frame rates around 40-50, which is much lower than the usual 160-170 fps. I checked the task manager and found something unusual. My CPU, an Intel I7 10700K, was running at 0.80 GHz, but it would boost to 4.6 GHz when turbo-boosted, then drop back to 0.8 GHz when I opened Rainbow Open.
Which motherboard are you employing? Recent issues have been reported with certain MSI boards. Use HWiNFO to monitor for throttling causes. Verify your turbo power settings in the BIOS. If the long-term power cap is mistakenly set to zero, the CPU will keep throttling at 800 MHz during gameplay.
I'll attempt this once more. What type of motherboard are you using? HWiNFO will indicate throttling causes when your CPU hits 800 MHz. Run ThrottleStop. Capture a screenshot of the Limit Reasons window during throttling. This will reveal the reason for the slowdown and help us find a solution. If red indicators appear on PL1 or PL2, it suggests a turbo power limit is involved. You might also see entries like BD PROCHOT.
