Just installed a new PC and it’s been running smoothly for a month. I tried moving the CPU cooler but when I power on the machine, the DRAM red light activates and nothing happens. The only thing I remember is needing to update the BIOS. I did that during assembly, but didn’t include the specs. My build details are: 5800X Aorus B450 Elite V2, 3070 GB ECC, 32GB DDR4, 3200 MHz CPU, Corsair 750MHz RAM.
The issue probably stems from the CPU being displaced during cooler movement. Poor contact between the CPU's memory controller pins can cause DRAM errors even if the CPU itself is faulty. Remove both the cooler and the CPU, then reinstall them firmly. Replace the cooler—keep or clean the thermal paste, and the problem should resolve. If that fails, disassemble all components one by one to identify the faulty part. Good luck!
The cooler in its initial place assisted the CPU in connecting with the pins on the motherboard. Realign your CPU and cooler and attempt it once more.
It was only the CPU that wasn't seated correctly. I handled the cooler gently, and after careful removal, the CPU adhered to it. Reinstalled it and the system started working properly.
