The HDD indicator on this TR100 itx Thermaltake case keeps blinking constantly, regardless of usage. Is this typical? Have you tried another Corsair build as your primary rig, and built this one as a secondary? Other Corsair setups don’t have such a persistent light, so it wasn’t something I expected. Could there be an issue I’m not aware of causing the light to stay on? The build uses a Gigabyte B850i with Risen 9 7900X and only 990 EVO storage. If it’s normal, I guess I’ll just cover it. Unfortunately, the front panel connector is a single soldered plug, not easily removable.

That's typical. It will respond to any activity, such as background processes. Just cover it as instructed.

The HDD indicator flashes during operation. If this bothers you, disconnect it from the motherboard.

It's connected to the whole front panel connector as a single piece, unfortunately. The illumination from this device is extremely intense.

Cut the wire or wrap the light with tape as you intended.

It's a brown wire. I'm not sure if I have the nerve to figure it out, but I think I'll just stick with tape.

Another choice is a connector that lets you join the wires before connecting them to the motherboard. Just remove the pins from the connector.

Man, the advice given isn’t very helpful. HDD activity lights are useful for troubleshooting, but just masking the problem won’t fix it. Observing HDD activity has often helped me diagnose issues. How is the flashing happening? Turn off any obvious disk activity and in idle mode it should briefly light up every few seconds. That’s normal. Excessive disk movement should cause more noticeable flickering. But if it’s steady and consistent—alternating on and off for a few seconds—something is wrong. I wish I could track activity per drive individually.

I just installed the system yesterday using a fresh Windows setup, excluding the GPU. I’m not sure what caused any problems. The only storage device is one SSD, nothing else.

It seemed like they were getting annoyed, and this was a method to halt the issue without taking any risky or harmful steps for the computer.
