I rebooted my Toshiba laptop, but the Windows login froze and reported a data collection issue. The screen went black with a blue message asking if you're sure you want to proceed. You should choose "Yes" if you're certain. This action may reset your PC.

It looks like your system encountered an issue during a crash, possibly losing saved data. The process may attempt recovery, but it's unclear whether this will reset your PC or progress further. I suggest checking online for details about the error.

I checked the details and it looks like this screen is meant to reset your PC intentionally. I selected the option and the system powered off completely before restarting normally in Windows.

Once the data disappears, it truly vanishes. The recovery journey takes time, and I think the message you saw was your laptop identifying recoverable files, which is why pressing no helped delete them. There are methods to retrieve lost information, but in reality, rebuilding them might be faster than trying to restore them. For big businesses, recovery is usually the best choice, and you’d generally hire a professional data specialist rather than relying on free tools from Google.

I'm about three years behind on this task, yet I've faced the same problem before. I attempted to update my PC (managed to reach that step somehow), but it didn't succeed... What did you do and can you restore your files? Please let me know. Hopefully you understand this.
