Hello everyone, I'm feeling quite discouraged here, but maybe you can help me understand. I own a laptop: MSI GS65ST-8RF (037US), with an MS-16Q21 chip, version 1.1, no power, and it's not working properly. There are reports of random shutdowns, blue screens, freezing, and issues during boot or gameplay. Windows 11 is known for freezing too, so I wasn't surprised. Over the past few tries, it only ran for about 5 to 10 minutes before stopping completely. Recently, I noticed some dust-like material and green dry residue on one capacitor and the SIC631 chip. I'm not an expert, but I think this could be the cause.

My main questions are:
1. Why is this happening? Is it fixable?
2. If yes, how can I get the correct schematics? I have a 1.0 version file but need the updated 1.1 one.
Also, to be honest, my eyes can spot obvious signs of damage, and I didn't remove the cooling system, so more issues might be hidden. The laptop had swelling and was taken out for safety a long time ago. I'm just a curious tech enthusiast, not a professional. I hope someone can give me some guidance or hope. Thanks ahead, and sorry for the unclear English!

That’s a concerning situation. The damage appears severe—likely burned and damaged. Recovering it might be feasible, but the cost could be too high for most people to justify for a laptop.

Sure, I think if it wouldn’t harm or interfere with the PCB, it could be worth trying to recover it.
