Recommendations on Asus versus Lenovo
When considering development environments, Linux via VirtualBox is suitable for both Asus and Lenovo machines. For Asus, the Zenbook Pro series stands out as a strong option. Regarding the comparison between Asus and Lenovo, it depends on specific needs—your experience matters most. Let me know if you need more details!
It's really hard to go wrong with either, Lenovo Thinkpads, though they seem to offer better value if you remember right.
I own a Zenbook which is solid but not as flexible as a thinkpad (keep that in mind).
Pick the stronger option depending on what you prefer, but I think it’s likely a Lenovo Thinkpad.
Visit review platforms such as notebook review or ultrabook review to examine feedback on your choices.
Thin and lightweight laptops often use soldered components to reduce weight.
They aren't built to accommodate additional drives or RAM.
Lenovo workstations offer customization for RAM, storage, and processor.
More significantly, they provide flexibility in display resolution and brightness settings.
The Thinkpad keyboards are praised for their excellent feel.
I don't believe you'd make a mistake with either option; I usually favor Lenovo. I haven't used a Zenbook Pro before, but when searching for a laptop, I thought about the Zenbook and chose Lenovo instead. From my point of view, Lenovo offered a superior design, better performance, and cooler operation. I'm not sure what size you're after, but if you're aiming for something comparable to the Asus Zenbook Pro 14.5", this model fits the bill:

£1,169.99 for a 6800HS, 32GB RAM and Nvidia 3050 is a solid choice, and it looks well constructed. The NVME size is 512GB, but I'd consider upgrading to a 2TB model later if needed.
I strongly suggest visiting Notebookcheck.com for laptop reviews—they're the top recommendation in my opinion.
