Hello, I recently purchased this compact desktop from eBay to run modded Minecraft and host it on a server. I opted for a personal setup instead of paying for a dedicated server, hoping for better long-term value. I set up Ubuntu Server and AMP for hosting the Minecraft server. The machine is a Lenovo ThinkCentre M93 Tiny, and here are the details from its eBay listing and a detailed PDF.

I created an AMP instance for the Minecraft server, but the PC has trouble running it smoothly. When not in the server, everything works well. But once inside, CPU and memory usage spike significantly—reaching up to 4-5 GB of RAM, which is close to the 6 GB allocated for the instance. Additionally, during gameplay, I encountered tick lag errors in the server console.

The modpack I’m using is FTB University 1.16, and I installed it via AMP’s server configuration panel. I’m new to upgrading established desktops due to power consumption limits and compatibility issues with certain components. It’s not as straightforward as building a custom PC, and I was seeking advice on the best options for hosting Minecraft or other games on this particular machine.

Hello,
Please keep in mind that the PSU isn't built to handle continuous operation at this level. If you're not planning to run it 24/7, I highly suggest using a wired internet connection and ensuring at least a 4-core CPU. An SSD would also be beneficial.

It is linked via an Ethernet cable, and I'm considering the Intel Core i7-4785T (the top model in the T-series lineup) to maximize its performance potential. An SSD upgrade is also essential for this system.
