Recommendations for hardware repair and upgrades
Think of this unit as a location where, whenever necessary, you should only add temporary parts.
It's probable that even if it appears to function correctly, prolonged operation could lead to problems.
Some things are just 'broken'.
Too far gone to bother with.
Broken PCI slos(s), mouse pee/poop...
Even if you put a period relevant GPU in it...what will you do with this thing?
I initially thought making it a classic or semi-relevant gaming machine would be nearly as good as my current PC, and it wouldn't be significantly worse either.

It’s clear I need to be honest. A 20-year-old computer that’s broken and has had a mouse in it? If you’re after a retro setup, you might find an old refurbished Sandy Bridge office PC that works, is more powerful, and isn’t infested—usually for around $100 or less.
Send this one out for recycling. The metals it contains could be much more valuable to someone else than anything you can do with this machine.
Make sure you wash your hands and avoid inhaling the rat droppings dust. Stay safe.
