Current situation I’m facing issues with two docking stations—one at home and one at work. The I-Tec model has several features that aren’t functioning properly, while the Lenovo version has some working features that intermittently stop, driver problems that often require uninstalling them. Because of these issues, I’ve stopped using most external monitors through both stations. However, I could have used more affordable alternatives. Details are available here: https://forums. Request I’m looking for a docking station that meets these requirements: - Stable drivers and reliable operation - Works without needing to disable certain features to enable others - No DisplayLink support - Supports 2 (or 3) 4K displays at 60Hz, preferably HDMI - Ethernet port included - USB-C front panel - Flat or vertical design (not square or star-shaped) - Includes keyboard and mouse USB ports - Budget around 150–250 EUR - Nice-to-have: USB-A front panel, separate microphone and headphone jacks (a rare feature), additional USB ports Ideas It seems that while standard “standard USB” docking stations are more common, quality has declined or become inconsistent. It’s unclear what constitutes a good brand these days. I thought Lenovo Thinkpad was a solid choice, especially since one of my laptops is also a Lenovo Thinkpad. I’ve checked popular online stores and came across the Wavlink UG69. Some sources describe it as low quality, focusing mainly on Wi-Fi rather than specific docking station performance. Any thoughts on this brand or model? Would you mind sharing recommendations for models that fit these criteria, along with your experience?
I attempted the Wavlink UG69DP13-Pro but it keeps sending back to sender.
On an older laptop (from work) it couldn’t reach 60Hz at all, whereas the computer and some docks worked fine on my newer machine, supporting 4K@60Hz on both external monitors with HDR enabled. However, the text displayed poorly—letters appeared incomplete and there were JPG compression issues. Additionally, using one monitor in ALT mode caused the image to shift slightly at the top-left or bottom-right, and the task bar got cut in half. Adjusting the image size to 300% helped a bit, but it was clear the monitor’s display capacity wasn’t being fully utilized.
I found out that certain problems are built into DisplayLink systems, which this dock uses, and it’s sometimes recommended to look for docks that aren’t DisplayLink.
