I recently added a 2080 Super to my system and have been pleased with its performance across various games. However, after installing Red Dead Redemption 2, my computer began experiencing crashes due to power cycling. I suspected a potential issue with either the power supply or graphics card. Running stress tests like FurMark seems to expose the problem, but it doesn't appear to be isolated to that specific game. Considering the card is new, I’m concerned about a possible hardware malfunction and would like to determine if it requires warranty service or component replacement.
I wouldn’t rely on Red Dead Redemption 2 as a reliable benchmark for assessing GPU performance, considering its frequent glitches and inconsistent optimization. Truly challenging games that operate smoothly remain the most authentic method for evaluating a graphics card’s capabilities. Determining suitable recommendations is difficult without knowing your gaming preferences, but newer titles incorporating RTX technology and which have been released for a sufficient period with accompanying updates represent an effective test for a 2080.
