It wasn't possible to improve it much. The system only works with 8-year-old CPUs, and next year they'll be 9. To add more power in a year, you need a newer socket such as AM4 or LGA1151. The limitation of only supporting DDR3 RAM is that current motherboards require DDR4, meaning you might end up paying more than you saved by staying on an older setup.
