Recomendaciones para placas base y procesadores AMD ITX
I'm preparing for my 40 in January and my wife thinks I can treat myself. I currently have an i7 7700k and a 2070 super, planning to upgrade to an AMD 5000 CPU. I'm unsure which one and whether a 3070 would work. I have an NZXT H1 case, so the motherboard needs to be ITX and support USB 3.2 connectors. What AMD CPU and ITX board would be a solid upgrade?
I'm using the B450-I ROG board and if I upgrade my HTPC to a B550, I expect a similar setup. It's a really solid board at its best. However, it's not the most affordable ITX option... but it delivers strong performance with a solid VRM design.
B550 strix is solid choice. B450 strix feels a bit lacking compared to what you get. Other options are better. B550i Auros looks fine too, and it supports a bios flashback if you want updates. Prices are reasonable right now.
Based on AMD's recent SKU disclosures, even the budget 5600X would seem like a significant upgrade compared to the 7700K overall. The 5800X appears to be priced unusually high for my taste, making a recommendation difficult. For motherboards, I’d focus on the B550 and X570 models. While some B450 boards might receive BIOS updates for Zen 3 support in January, they aren’t ideal. Front-panel Type-C connectors are standard on ITX B450 boards, so those are likely out. The best value board currently seems to be the B550I Aorus Pro AX. The Strix B550-I is a bit pricier and has weaker VRM, though I can’t compare every feature. If you prefer the X570, the Strix X570-I is a reasonable choice, though its advantages over the B550 aren’t fully utilized in ITX builds. The Strix B450-I offers similar performance to the B450, and MSI’s B450I Gaming Plus is another strong option.
The VRM on Gaming Plus really enhances its value for the price, though if you prioritize Intel LAN or premium audio, the Strix offers a solid alternative around $20-30 compared to MSI.
It depends on your budget. Based on the boards, the ASUS ROG Strix X570-I Gaming seems like a better choice for an ITX build. It offers a solid VRM with cooling fan that activates under heavy use, which is great if you're planning to use a 12 or 16 core CPU and overclock it. The board has plenty of USB ports, supports Wi-Fi 6, and most ports are well-placed. ASUS also provides a decent UEFI experience with an Intel controller and 1GB memory controller. The only downside is the absence of a front USB Type-C header—only found in the newer B550 model. You'll lose several USB ports, mainly Type-A connections, which is a loss unless you don't expect a high-end CPU. The VRM quality is average but not bad, and the Intel 2.5Gbps Ethernet is a nice upgrade over the standard 1Gbps. Prices for this board are almost the same as the X570, and most reviewers seem confused about the differences.
Thanks for the assistance. I own a Strix board and need to move away from them. The only issue with the X570 model is the absence of an onboard USB C 3 port.
