I purchased an AsRock X370 Pro4 and connected it with a Ryzen 5 3600. It’s clear the system requires a BIOS update to function properly. I’m looking for ways to upgrade without spending a lot more—maybe there’s a cheaper option. Local tech shops suggested they could update it if everything was in working order, but I’m not sure how to get that done myself. The issue is it won’t update on its own. I didn’t realize it would be so difficult to find a standard service.

you received the x370 despite its limitations because it wasn’t compatible with your needs. you can ask AMD for an update kit directly, though delivery may be delayed.

Consider getting the original device and purchasing a compatible one ready to use.

You need a dedicated processor to update the BIOS.

We’ll check if the PC can be updated. If it works, we’ll pay $10 for installing a first-gen CPU and see if they adjust. Then we’ll supply RAM, cooler, PSU, etc.

I assumed the service would be helpful and dependable, but it seems they’re not. I purchased it because it was significantly cheaper and would still function after an update. Since you mentioned there’s a way to update it, I won’t lose my place. I also prefer not to buy a compatible version since I wanted to save money.

I get why the update can boost performance, but they’re unsure if their boss will approve using a CPU just for the BIOS because it might lower the price. It makes sense. It’s odd that there isn’t a pre-configured setup with an AMD chip that fits my motherboard. But they said I could place an order from AMD directly then everything would be fine.

Sadly, this applies mainly to B450/X470 motherboards, but you should definitely reach out to their customer support for more details.
