I'm purchasing an X570 motherboard and a 5800X, but the board needs an update to work with 5000 series processors. Since I don’t have an older CPU to provide a BIOS update, what options do I have? I’ve heard AMD offers CPU loans for BIOS updates—can you share the link you’re missing? The motherboard I selected doesn’t have a flashback. ASUS Prime X570-Pro AM4 Zen 3 Ryzen 5000 & 3rd Gen Ryzen ATX Motherboard with PCIe Gen4, Dual M.2 HDMI, SATA 6GB/s USB 3.2 Gen 2 ATX.
AMD still offers a boot kit for BIOS updates. You can locate it at the provided link: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/pa...n-Boot-Kit. In addition to getting a supported CPU, another option is to choose a motherboard that doesn’t need the CPU or RAM installed, allowing you to perform a BIOS update yourself.
It could work. I don’t think they’d hold back unless your ASUS X570-Pro board comes with a BIOS that already backs AMD Ryzen 5000 series right out of the box, which would depend on whether it’s brand new or has been sitting on shelves for a while before these chips were released.
