I just set up a new system with these parts: Intel i7 8700 non-k, Asus z390 H gaming motherboard, and an evga 2070 Super. It generally runs fine unless I play games. My boost clock hits 4.3 for a short time, then drops between 3.9 and 4.2. This started after a BIOS update. Before that it worked smoothly without any boost drops. Temperatures stay under 65°C during gaming. I think power throttling might be the issue. I tried Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and it confirms my guess. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Also, ASUS won’t let me flash the BIOS back—any advice would be appreciated!

Open the BIOS settings and increase the power limit. XTU can also adjust it, though it won’t take effect automatically when the system starts.

I located the long and short term power limit settings. It seems this is the only adjustment you can make to achieve this. Would pushing it to its maximum affect anything negatively?
