Newcomer, please confirm if you need to relocate the post or adjust anything. The main point is clear: anyone familiar with a suitable cable modem featuring two 2.5Gb LAN ports? I aim to connect one directly to my main PC and another to the home router/WiFi. My ultimate aim is to extend network coverage using Cat6 in every room, using a patch panel for easy management. Once set up, I can simply connect the required ports. My internet provider (GCI) offers up to 2 Gigabit service. The modem in question is a Hitron model linked here. It supports 4 gigabit connections but the WiFi performance is doubtful. Most times I test speeds at full LAN bandwidth, not the modem itself. I need to know its true potential. My lab router tolerates it well, but my Roku works flawlessly. I rarely experience stable connections for gaming; my phone and wife often disconnect unexpectedly, so keeping them off WiFi is preferable. The Roku remains my go-to for streaming without issues. Currently, I rely on workarounds since the Roku is essential for the family. I haven’t yet hardwired it. My Asus router functions perfectly except with the Roku.

Modems should only connect via the router. Some devices use a second port for teaming, which isn’t required for 2.5GbE. Consider the Netgear CM1200 or Arris S33.

It seems you're asking about connecting a 2.5G port to a router with multiple 2.5 ports. The goal is likely to identify the correct setup for that configuration.

That's the approach you should take. I might not be selected here, but I'll use a UDM router with some access points instead.

They're looking for something similar to the S33 from Arris, which includes a 2.5 Gig port. They'll also need a router with a 2.5 Gig WAN port. Earlier Docsis 3.1 cable modems had several ports to enable link aggregation for higher speeds, but once 2.5 and 5 Gbps standards came out, the practice of adding many Ethernet ports on a single modem stopped being used.

I previously worked with an older Arris model and was extremely satisfied. I’ll check out the s33. Thanks, wizard. And Donut
