My new Razer Blade 15 is facing problems with Windows updates. Some apps I downloaded, like Proton VPN, reported my OS is outdated. The update I need to install isn’t working, and I’m seeing the error "Feature update to Windows 10, version 22H2 - Error 0x80070020." I haven’t managed to upgrade to Windows 11 yet. When I bought the laptop, it came with a fresh Windows 10 Home installation. If that’s relevant, I own a Blade 15 with a GTX 1060.

Have you attempted an update to Windows 11 solely via the Windows Update service? You might also consider using Microsoft’s Update Assistant tool. Does your device satisfy the TPM prerequisites for Windows 11? You mentioned it was a brand-new installation of Windows 10, so is it a used laptop? Could the Windows version you have be a compromised or cracked copy?

Have you explored this solution? https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/wind...cf55a3843b Additionally, checking the Version Number in System Information can provide useful details.

Sure, I attempted the instructions from that site, but it didn’t work. Since I’ve barely used the laptop lately, I’m planning to reinstall Windows myself. I’m currently on build 16299, which seems quite outdated. Would a newer update bring me up to the latest version?

They release periodic updates for convenience rollups that can move you from initial launch to a fully updated state in one step. However, these updates are broad and may miss specific driver or microcode changes. When updating an installation, I usually download the rollup, perform reboot cycles, verify for updates, install them, and keep rebooting until no further updates appear.

Sure, I got through the update process, though it took six hours. The "Update to Windows 11" button is still missing, even though my health check says I'm fine. I'm handling it manually now.
