Hey everyone, so my partner and I have been forced to apply Windows updates almost every day over the past three weeks. I don’t know why, but I’ve lost patience and turned off automatic updates now. I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this or if there’s any information about the updates we need to install. Thanks, Alex.

Following the update, does Windows prompt for a restart? After installing, do you run another check for updates? If this is your first Windows setup, it's likely some updates weren't fully downloaded or applied. Certain prerequisites might still need to be installed before further updates become accessible.

This update hasn't been released recently—it's been running for about two years. Every time I power it off, it receives another 20 patches. I don’t perform a manual check, but the next time I shut it down, it comes back with another 10 to 20 updates. It’s pretty strange.

It happens to me too, it's frustrating. Linux by the way. Even though I'm still a bit new to Linux. Haha.

This appears to be a laptop or a custom-built desktop. Are you using any real-time antivirus or firewall software? It might be blocking Windows from installing them correctly. Review your update logs to identify any failed installations.

Reviewed the situation, most issues resolved so far. Looking back at the past, only Word 2010 had failures—this was before I installed it. Problems began long before that. I’m using a custom desktop with an Acer laptop.

It seems updates are happening independently on each machine. A clean installation from an ISO might resolve the repetition issue.

I was about to share that. These are routine updates. Recently, there have been some minor fixes because of certain vulnerabilities.

That would indicate an update mentioning Windows Defender, wouldn't it?
