I recently purchased a new RX 6600 Sapphire PULSE GPU. After installing the latest DDU drivers and checking my BIOS, it still crashes during heavy tasks. The system turns black instantly, though the video output plays normally. Previously, I used a 1060 with 3GB RAM, but driver installation kept freezing and crashing. Windows would install drivers on its own and function properly. Now I’m trying the same process for my new GPU, but it doesn’t work. My system runs Windows 10 64-bit, i5-7600K, 16GB DDR4 at 2333MHz.

Perform a complete system reinstall of Windows. DDU problems along with an unknown driver installation issue on the old GPU—just start from scratch.

Did you start DDU in safe mode? You can turn it on in DDU. Navigate to options, check the box for mark, also ensure prevent downloads of drivers from windows update, then restart DDU after that to see the prompt. Execute DDU remove and shutdown (for setting up a new GPU). Power on the PC and install the GPU driver again.

Before you reinstall Windows, make sure the chipset drivers are installed. DDU might have wiped them, which means they’re likely missing now.

It's happened this way for a long time. If anything was changed recently, that's okay. I was just mentioning it because it's really obvious that the default settings were wrong, and many folks didn't realize their chipset driver was missing.

The change isn't clear to me, but I've been free of the problem since the Ryzen 2000 days. No issues with Intel before that. Could be because I always turn off automatic driver setup in Windows.
