Recent 32GB RAM package triggers automatic Windows recovery mode cycle
Hello everyone, I'm seeking some help. I recently installed a new 32GB RAM setup—two 16GB sticks—and combined it with another set of 16GB sticks. Now my PC is automatically restarting during boot. I've reset the CMOS and upgraded the BIOS, but nothing has worked. I've attached my specs for reference and would appreciate any guidance on what might be going wrong. I even reinserted the working RAM and it still keeps looping. The current sticks are Ballistic 2x16GB at 3200 MHz, while I tried Crucial DDR4 Pro 2x16GB at the same speed. My motherboard is an Asus Pro X570-Ace WiFi edition.
I also tried those settings and the system recognized the new RAM at base clock speeds. I even suspected it could be my HDD, but the disk test came back normal. It keeps auto-repairing the boot cycle. My other specs are a Ryzen 9 5950X with an 850W PSU.
This indicates the new RAM is functional at least. Because the kits aren't compatible when purchased separately, likely timing or chip conflicts exist, or you might need to activate XMP or adjust your motherboard BIOS settings manually. Since I'm unfamiliar with AMD Ryzen specifics, it could be helpful to wait for someone more experienced to assist, but experimenting with 3200MHz or different speeds in the BIOS could be worthwhile depending on your board's capabilities. One thing I noted is that some users have reported their systems requiring time to "train" memory, which might cause boot loops or hangs lasting 1–5 minutes before the logo appears. This isn't necessarily a problem here, but it’s definitely possible.
Like kirashi said it can be a compatibility issue. Make sure that the RAM sticks are fully seated into slot A-2 and B-2 to test the new RAM kit. After finding out if the Crucial Pro sticks work. You can either stay with them as 2x16GB or you can kind of play around and try all of them. So maybe try placing the Ballistic sticks into slot A-1 and B-1 and the Crucial Pro sticks in A-2 and B-2. No guarantee that they will work without issues. I've done this on a X570 motherboard. I had two kits of RAM mixed and they did work but I wasn't able to use any memory overclocks without things being to buggy.
While exploring my BIOS settings, I discovered a rollback update from the 31st. After applying it, Windows restored properly and I successfully installed all four drives. They’re operating smoothly together at 3200, which is interesting but functioning well. Thanks to everyone for your assistance!
