Details - 5800x3d - 16 gb 3000 c16 (original OC to 3600, adjusted to 3533) - 3070 ti - b550-f gaming So I reviewed my event logger and saw a lot of warnings about "Cache Hierarchy Error." When I asked a few folks, they said it was an unstable fclk. Not wanting to test a non-1:1 ratio, I switched the OC from 3533 MHz down to 3467. Another suggested it might be related to voltage, but I thought that was unlikely since everything seemed normal. Anyone here have any insight or a solution? I'm attaching a screenshot of the event logger and some ZenTimings images from when I was debugging and adjusting my RAM. Also, I ran the test on a Tm5 PCB destroyer and it didn't report any issues at 3533 or 3467.
From my perspective there’s no real problem here. The 3D architecture doesn’t perform well with limited RAM, especially at those high sub-timings. Honestly, you might have overpaid for a CPU that doesn’t take advantage of fast memory like other Ryzen models do. If you want better speed, try removing this issue, reset the BIOS, apply an XMP profile, and consider using PBO2 with -30 for all cores—this boosted my CPU benchmark by around 500 points!
I understand the scaling issue with X3D. I was enjoying learning but adjusted it to 3000 and then increased it to 3200. Now I can experiment with other systems too. It feels better using a higher number. I also ran the -30 offset to help with temperature calculations. I’m not sure if the Zen timing was problematic. Thanks for the guidance!
Sure, I understand. Some RAM just doesn't cooperate and that's frustrating. My old Corsair vengeance didn't work even at 1.4v, and now my G-Skill BIOS seems to handle everything fine. Still, it's not really useful on this chip. Same with others, but it's still interesting. Performance improved a lot for me, especially at lower temps, though I know that might just be due to the data set being unreliable. I tried different speeds but the difference was minimal. I removed it because it felt like it was affecting my computer, and I won't reinstall it. Thanks for pointing that out—OC RAM doesn't seem to help here.
I’m okay with the microns, but there seems to be an issue with my setup. Lower temps usually mean better performance and longer clock speeds, which is great. Also, I don’t like seeing 90°C on my CPU, even when it’s running smoothly.
