Initially I had 16 gigs on vengeance lpx 3200 mhz memory in a Ryzen 2700x with an Asus Strix b450-F motherboard, and it performed well. I then purchased another 16 gig kit and installed it, but when trying to boot at 3200 MHz it failed. It works fine at 2100 MHz but doesn’t boot at higher speeds. Could the issue be related to the motherboard or my hardware limits?

You're encountering RAM and CPU constraints with four dimming ports. Consider trying the Ryzen DRAM Calculator or opting for a lower XMP level such as 2933.

The latest systems are compatible with the motherboard. Zen and Zen+ have specific requirements for RAM types.

It could be the less powerful memory controller in the Zen+ chip. Have you attempted starting at 3000 or 2933MHz using the standard voltage and timing settings from the XMP/DOCP profile?

Only boots at 2666. That's disappointing since I invested a lot in good RAM. Is it possible to adjust the voltage to improve performance?

It only starts up at 2666, which is not great. But perhaps increasing the voltage could help?

I’m starting up smoothly with a 3466MHz CL16 on a Ryzen 5 2600. From what I’ve learned, the motherboard model plays a big role—Gigabyte and ASUS boards both support memory well for Zen+ chipsets, though it’s likely MSI or ASUS that comes to mind.

Do you have two or four sticks? For me, two were enough, but it got weird when there were four. I also use an Asus board, so it might not be the issue with the good support, haha!
