A 43-year-old gamer who loved Steam and valves really cared about his setup. I don’t think I did anything wrong. The real question is who was the problem? Anyone here facing similar issues?

vac is accurate and seems to have few false alarms. Are there any background tasks that might have caused it? (like rivatuner or a screen capture tool, etc.)

Is your account protected? Do you have two-factor authentication? Can someone else access your login?

It doesn't matter who made a mistake. Valve won't undo the decision no matter what. I haven't had any problems, but I don't play much anymore. When I did, I think the cheats weren't as common as they are now. I also use two-factor authentication. It's possible someone could have hacked your account and used cheats, but from what I understand, VAC is quite reliable—probably not 100% perfect, but it has few false alarms.

VAC is known for avoiding blacklisting popular tools such as MSI Afterburner and RivaTuner. I learned this from experience—both open and VAC-secured servers handled TF2 without issues. It seems this shouldn’t be the problem here.

The 2-factor authentication wasn’t set up initially, but after changing the password it’s now active. The background apps are unclear to me—I need to investigate since I’m uncertain. There seems to be no game addon or capture feature, just regular functionality. If it doesn’t get fixed, I won’t have any euros left from my side. I reached out here last night because every minute on the Steam forum I saw someone complaining. I usually play VAC servers and hate cheaters—they ruined my favorite game, RUST.

No additional details were provided about what triggers VAC. It only mentioned "Ban."

It's just a restriction. They don't actually prohibit you during the incident. It requires some time, so you might find yourself banned after a couple of days.

I was removed from Countless servers around 1.6 times, which upset me. I always played fair and never cheated. The VAC system is meant for tools, not people. What are the odds of getting a false ban?

Probabilities are low. Even if the claim is wrong, there’s a strict no-forgiveness rule. VAC identified an issue it dislikes. Unlike other anti-cheating methods some 1.6 servers employ, VAC doesn’t require user input based on what I understand.
