Reasons to use Linux
I also enjoy using Linux for everyday tasks beyond development. It offers stability and flexibility that suits my workflow. Additionally, I appreciate its lightweight nature compared to heavier desktop environments. The ability to run terminal tools seamlessly adds convenience. Overall, it enhances productivity and simplifies certain operations.
It's completely free. That's the only thing I received. Seems to work well for an IT position as well, right?
It won’t take over your steering or keep your vehicle stationary at midnight.
Linux offers strong security benefits right out of the start. Some challenges I've encountered include transferring documents between drives without relocating your main drive, which can be tricky. When multiple users are involved, files on a mounted drive aren't immediately accessible to others until the first user logs off. You must configure folder permissions carefully so that additional users can access folders created on a secondary drive. Beyond that, Linux stands out as a more robust platform—installing software in bulk with a single command is far more efficient than navigating through menus and hoping for the best.
The only thing that stands out as genuinely superior is the Terminal, along with apt-get. apt-get works well, while Terminal offers a much better experience for SSHing and git on Linux compared to CygWin on Windows.
I've been experimenting with running Linux distributions in virtual machines lately.
You're glad you understand what's happening in your system... with Windows 10, it's hard to tell exactly what Microsoft is up to.
