I'm experiencing problems with my Ethernet connection speed. I've applied full Windows and motherboard updates, but I'm still getting around 930Mbps when using the same connection. The laptop's settings differ from mine, except for the EEE options, which it lacks. It runs at the highest speed (2.5GB), yet performance drops occasionally. Any suggestions?

It's the terrible Realtek controller, and I'm facing the same issue with 1GbE NICs too. Have you experimented with different cables? Sometimes switching them resolves the problem. You might also try another method, though it can be unpredictable.

Ensure Realtek drivers are properly installed instead of the standard Microsoft versions. The built-in gigabit drivers are subpar, and the 2.5G alternatives likely won’t improve performance.

I didn’t switch to a different cable since it performed well with the laptop, delivering around 930Mbps. The setting I tried didn’t resolve the issue. Once I identified the problem, I consulted Realtek. After reviewing again, I see I installed their "Realtek PCIe FE" and another version of "Realtek USB FE." Should I attempt the alternative?

I question the effectiveness. I've also noticed that gently shaking the cable occasionally helps (which is why I suggested replacing it).

I just verified again using the same cable and achieved a 1GB connection on the laptop. Does that suggest the issue is only from the PC side? I also tested with two additional cables—Cat 5e and 6—and both delivered a 1GB connection to the laptop and 100Mbps to the PC.

Verify that you are installing the appropriate driver for your network controller. The abbreviation "FE" stands for "Fast Ethernet," meaning a 100 Mb/s connection.

Check the section labeled "Network Interface Controllers > 10/100/1000M Gigabit Ethernet > PCI" on the page you saved.

Disable Green Ethernet, Energy Efficient Ethernet, Low Power Ethernet and similar settings. Additionally, check for an option to test compatibility with older switches.

They did everything, but the older compatibility aspect remains unclear.
