I own an ASUS ROG Strix B450 gaming motherboard and checking via CPUID hasn't shown any CPU boosting beyond 4.2 GHz. My friend achieves up to 4.8 GHz with the default settings without overclocking.

Your friend is likely using a basic model, as the B450-F offers limited power output.

You're likely using a more recent model, probably around a gigabyte B550 type.

Overclocked manually to around 4.6–4.8ghz. Voltage should stay near 1.35v to prevent overheating.
