RE2 remake first impressions?
It's only two and a half hours but it's already incredible. January hasn't fully passed yet, but I believe we have game of the year here. The graphics, sound, and overall atmosphere are all so well crafted. The zombies look and feel incredibly realistic and they're so high-definition it's really intense.
In my view, it surpasses everything else and sets a new standard. This is exactly how you create a horror game—constant tension about what might be hiding nearby, even when you think it's safe.

What is this? 2017?
Year of gushing over great Resident Evil games?
I haven't played the demo yet. If I still have a chance to, I'll do it as PewDiePie played it & it looked good.
The demo is no longer accessible (believed it was removed a day before release). This one still surpasses RE7 in my opinion. 7 was impressive as it returned to what made RE valuable. I hope we can see similar quality again in the future. Not just RE, but overall strong performance.
I believe it relates to the design efforts of RE. RE is an intense game that restricts your resources, introduces mysterious monsters, and really challenges you. It's a tough survival experience. I own the RE1 remake I received in a modest package some time ago. Perhaps I should try playing through that first. It doesn't seem nearly as refined compared to the RE2 remake.
Yeah I'm in agreement, the main design of the original Resident Evil remains solid. Even when you know what's coming and what will happen, it still feels intense and suspenseful. The Lickers in this game are really chilling. I had a lot of ammo left at the end of RE1 because I was worried about running out during the whole game, which made me play more cautiously.
